Every year after OCDcon, I have the sad task of resetting the countdown widget on my blog. I watch it go from 0 days to about a year.
Well, we’ve been patient, and thankfully as of today there are only 100 days until OCDcon 2019 taking place in Austin, TX!
I’m fortunate that this will be my fifth OCDcon (seriously hyped for the 5+ banner for my name badge). I’m also excited to see some of my best friends again and to hopefully meet more. I’m looking learning from sessions, but also just feeling the love within the OCD community. The conference is my favorite weekend of the year, and that is not an exaggeration.
Resource: Cost-Effective Ways to Attend the Conference
I remember first reading about OCDcon in the summer of 2014 just after being diagnosed. I wanted to go so badly, but it was too short of notice to put plans together. So, I put the 2015 dates in my calendar and longingly waited all year. Since then, I have gone from attendee to speaker to conference planning committee member.
It’s pretty surreal to think back on attending for the first time. I didn’t know anyone, was still controlled by OCD, and was exceptionally anxious. This time around, I know countless individuals, have graduated out of treatment, and will still be anxious at times. But I won’t be alone in feeling anxious, and that’s why OCDcon is so special.
This year, I will be presenting in five sessions. I will certainly be busy, but in a good way!
They are (in chronological order):
-
WRITE ON! with Not Alone Notes (Friday, July 19, 11am-12:30pm)
-
Thank You, Next…Diagnosis: A Panel About Four Individuals with a Comorbid Diagnosis (Friday, July 19, 4pm-5:30pm)
-
Morning Stretch Group! (Saturday, July 20, 8am)
-
Becoming A Hero! We Are Not Victims Of Our OCD (Saturday, July 20, 2:15pm-3:45pm)
-
Are you a Super-feeler with super-doubts? (Sunday, July 21, 8am-9:30am)
If you are able to attend, I highly recommend it. If you are not able to attend, we will miss you, and you are still a valuable member of the community.
Hope to see you there!
