Just over three years ago, I was in a residential treatment program for OCD bravely confronting my fears. And while the staff and residents were supportive, it was still hard to be away from loved ones. Luckily, I went home just in time for Thanksgiving and Hanukkah.
However, others are in treatment programs during this holiday season. It’s important to me to spread hope and courage to them, so they know they aren’t alone. My favorite opportunity for giving back is currently happening, and you can join in!
Every year, the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) collects and distributes non-denominational holiday cards to individuals in OCD treatment programs across the country. You can write a message of support, holiday cheer, and love, or even draw a picture. This year, I chose to include a piece of origami with each card. Just remember, individuals of all ages and backgrounds will receive cards.
All cards should be mailed to the IOCDF PO box below by December 15. Last year, the IOCDF received over 500 cards, but I’m sure we can top that.

I encourage every one to participate by sending at least one card or even 100! It’ll truly make a difference to that recipient. I know it would have to me.
